pharmacopiea series
This series began in the mid 2010s as an exploration of issues related to mental health and cultural perceptions of psychiatric medicine and wellbeing, as well as substance use and abuse. For several years, I obsessively collected hundreds of used pill bottles (mostly mine, but some from other people), with the intention of transforming them into art objects of some sort. The thought of trashing such a small, useful, and colorful container would almost send me into an environmentalist OCD sprial that led to what became a light hoarding situation. The pill bottle, though relatively mundane and utilitarian, in many ways, becamse a sort of muse for this series. The series also does not follow one medium or style. As with many issues of mental wellbeing, it is constantly in flux, and evolving with my own struggles and peace.
